Jude McCrory is once again raising money for charity Cancer Research UK (Stanley). To date her total is £8,000 and she’s hopeful with her next venture she can reach her £10,000 goal. A 24 hour darts marathon has been organised to take place in The Duke of Wellington Consett on Saturday May 3rd starting at 3pm and finishing at 3pm on Sunday May 4th.
Jude who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018, was given a full hysterectomy to suppress its advance.
Confident that everything was okay she continued to manage and work at her hair salon, hopeful for the future. However in December 2021 the cancer returned, and Jude received chemotherapy treatment over a period of five months. When she began to lose her hair, she decided to shave it all off for charity and with the full support of her family, friends and clients, her fund raising journey began.

The aim of the Darts Marathon is to reach one hundred thousand points which is 200 games of 501.
Each team will be given a time slot and it will be a knock out competition. It’s only £5.00 to play. If you would like to get in early that’s great but the closing date for entries is the date itself, May 3rd.There will be the opportunity at another board to just have a game a darts if you so wish. The aim is on having fun while raising money for charity. There will be a prize for the highest score and the highest check out. Jude is delighted with the support from her darts teammates and values their invaluable help.
If you would like to support this event by taking part or by donating to this worthy cause you can scan the QR code or contact Jude personally by email or phone. All the details are below. Jude is also planning future events to add money to her fundraising pot with a Coffee Morning at The White Room in Stanley and a Family Fun Sports Day at Leadgate Cricket Club later in the year.
Jude’s husband Lee is also getting involved by holding a Football Talk In with Keith Gillespie at The Demi in Consett on Friday May 2nd.
A truly worthy effort for our local Cancer Research branch.
