The pub, just off the A692 roundabout near Consett, has been closed for around about 2 year. But now has two new owners – married couple Brian and Michelle Proud – who currently run the Kings Head in Lanchester, Durham.

The proud new owners have said that they could see the potential the pub has and it’s a great location for locals or travellers passing through. They wanted to create a welcoming feeling throughout for families to enjoy days out or for a gathering for friends.

Considering the pub has been closed for almost two year major work needed to be done, including redecoration throughout the inside creating a more modern feel as well as a new extension. The new Jolly Drovers refurbishment will offer something for everyone at great value and more.

There will be offering the community something different too, with a huge range of facilities to suit everyone such as a carvery and traditional favourites. They will be open for breakfast every morning at 7:30am, as well as serving food all day long with a selection of ales, beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks with the addition of fresh tea and coffee.

There will also be around 30 new jobs available at the pub including chefs, barmaids/bartenders and others as such.

Punch Taverns’ Partnership Development Manager; Rob Summers said the new owners of the pub, Brian and Michelle, have been in the hospitality industry for around 30 years and have gained experience in all different operations, catering being one of them.

So watch out for the newer and more modern Jolly Drovers.
