Kieran Mennell, who works at Prince Bishop Vets in Leadgate, near Consett, will take on the challenging rooftop climb on June 19th, reaching the Angel of Plenty statue at the summit of the landmark building, which stands 130 metres above sea level. Kieran hopes the feat will help him raise hundreds of pounds for Vetlife, a charity that provides support to members of the veterinary community and is a cause close to his heart.
Vetlife provides free, confidential emotional support 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, to vets, veterinary nurses and support teams, and Kieran has undergone training to be a volunteer.
He is also a mental health first aider for his colleagues at Prince Bishop Vets, which is part of VetPartners, a group of veterinary practices and animal healthcare businesses across the UK and Europe. Vetlife is VetPartners’ chosen charity of 2026.
The challenge will see him navigate the famous venue’s rooftop while taking in panoramic views across the capital, all in aid of supporting the vital work carried out by Vetlife.
Speaking ahead of the climb, Kieran said:
“It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m looking forward to pushing myself and raising as much money as possible for a charity that means a lot to me.
“Vets, veterinary nurses and practice team members are always there for our beloved animals when they need them most. But the reality is that caring for others comes with a heavy emotional and physical toll.”
