Cuts, Cuppas & Community: The Story of Salon 19

Tucked away on Watling Street, Salon 19 is much more than a hair salon — it’s part of the village’s soul.

Originally opened in 1974 by Florrie Bousfield on Front Street (at number 19, naturally), the salon moved to its current home at No. 23 but kept the name that locals still love.

In the early ’80s, Lynne Goldsborough and Yvonne Harrop joined as apprentices — and never left. Over 45 years later, they’re still at the helm, keeping the community looking sharp and feeling seen. They officially took over the salon in 1988, and their scissors have been snipping ever since.

But Salon 19 isn’t just about great shampoo and blow dry it’s a weekly ritual, a catch-up spot, and for many, a lifeline. Clients have become close friends — as generations have passed through the doors.

With friendly chat, familiar faces, and a cuppa always brewing, Salon 19 continues to be a warm, welcoming hub in the heart of Leadgate — and long may it last.
