On Tuesday, July 25th 2023, Marc Murray and Colin Pilcher will begin playing pool… and won’t finish playing until Saturday 29th July – 111 hours later!

The duo is set to make an ambitious attempt at breaking their THIRD Guinness World Record. Having previously secured the record in both 2011 and 2013 for the Longest Marathon Playing Pool (Singles), they now have their sights set on surpassing their own achievements.

Their plan is to engage in a relentless 111-hour session of continuous 8-ball pool, without any breaks for sleep. As they commemorate the 10th anniversary of their last record, they aim to make an even greater impact by raising £10,000 for two esteemed charities: The National Deaf Children’s Society and If You Care Share Foundation. The event will span 5 days, taking place at Hooch’s in Consett.

Marc, from Blyth, Northumberland, who has two profoundly deaf boys, has chosen to raise money for The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) as they have been an invaluable support to Marc’s family over the past 8 years. ‘I would love to raise as much money as possible to say thank you and to help the NDCS to continue to support more deaf children and their families in the years to come’, he said.

Colin, from Consett, chooses to support The If You Care Share Foundation for their invaluable work tackling suicide prevention.

The final fundraising total will be split equally between the two charities.

There will be coffee mornings on Tuesday and Friday, raffles, tombolas and auctions. Professional pool player, Wade Morley, will also be doing an exhibition on a Tuesday night as well as donating a signed cue and shirt.

The event will be live-streamed.
