Once again, Consett Rotary Club in collaboration with Lorraine Weightman and Fr John Bagnall, are producing a book of humorous, illustrated poems for charity.
After the success of Lockdown Lines in 2021, it was decided this year to repeat the process and publish a book to support ‘The Biking Vikings North East’ who raise money for Brain Tumour Research. Terry Forster – one of The Biking Vikings – whose son died of a brain tumour, has with them, been raising money since 2014, and is now getting closer to his target figure.
Lorraine and Fr John with the support of Consett Rotary are hoping to help him reach it by selling the books locally and further afield. They plan to launch the book at Consett Library on Thursday November 2nd 2023 starting at 2pm and would love your support. Books will be on sale here for the first time at £4.99, and refreshments will be available.
They would also like to thank the local businesses in Consett and surrounding areas for their generosity in placing advertisements in the book to help pay towards its printing costs; and for offering to sell the books in their establishments after the launch.
Consett is a great place to be and an area where community projects really matter. Put the date in your diary, and help support this event. Perhaps treat yourself to a copy and maybe buy some more for your friends and family. All proceeds will go straight into the charity fund.
Consett Rotary will be hosting a Celebration Presentation Evening as a culmination of their fundraising efforts, on Saturday June 22nd 2024 in St Patrick’s Hall in Consett, with entertainment provided by The Emerald Thieves, and with a special appearance by The Biking Vikings.
