If you find yourself wandering along Medomsley Road this September and catch the sound of laughter, the squeak of marker pens, and a voice exclaiming, “We need more yellow over here!” — you’re in the right place.
Follow the sounds and you’ll arrive at The GloHouse @ ArtTee Studio, a bright and buzzing creative hub where something exciting is about to unfold.
Welcome to Loud on Paper, Loud on Walls — a brand-new after-school club from ImaginAble Me CIC that’s about to give local young people permission to be bold, be seen, and be celebrated… one zine page and one mural at a time.
Who We Are
ImaginAble Me CIC is a Consett-based, not-for-profit organisation run by two local women with a shared passion for unlocking young people’s potential. I’m Karen Jervis, the planner, connector, and community champion who keeps our projects moving, and my co-director is Tracey Keers — the creative whirlwind behind The GloHouse @ ArtTee Studio.

Between us, we’ve built a safe, inclusive space for children ( namely 10–17-year-olds) who might not always feel at home in the mainstream. We work with LGBTQ+ youth, neurodivergent creatives, young people with SEND, home-educated teens, and anyone who’s finding life a little noisy, overwhelming, or lonely. Our sessions are as much about connection and confidence as they are about art.
What’s Loud on Paper, Loud on Walls?
It’s six weeks of creative freedom, split into three age-specific groups — The Scribble Squad (Years 5 & 6), Street Scribblers (Years 7 & 8), and Urban Canvas Crew (Years 9+). Each has its own style, energy, and activities, but all share the same mission: to help young people express themselves in ways that feel safe, exciting, and completely their own.
Here’s a taste of what’s in store:
Zine Scene – Young people create their own mini-magazines packed with doodles, poems, collage, and personal flair.
Graffiti 101 – From bubble letters to tagging styles, participants explore street art techniques and choose their own colour palettes.
Sticker Bomb – Design and produce custom stickers that can brighten zines, walls, or even your school folder.
Speak Your Truth – Turn personal stories, favourite quotes, or bold ideas into eye-catching visual art.
The Big Build – Bring it all together in a collaborative, large-scale mural.
Every session is designed with accessibility in mind — we provide adapted materials, sensory-friendly spaces, and plenty of options for how to take part.
The Grand Finale
The six weeks end with an art showcase at The GloHouse @ ArtTee Studio, where zines are laid out to browse, the mural is revealed in all its glory, and families, friends, and community members can celebrate what these young creatives have achieved. It’s a feel-good event full of colour, connection, and “I made that!” pride.
And the best bit? It’s Pay What You Can, thanks to community support and donations — because we believe creativity should be open to everyone.
Why We’re Doing This
For some young people, art is more than just a hobby — it’s a lifeline. It’s a way to process feelings, tell their stories, and discover new strengths.
As I often say:
“Every young person has a voice worth hearing and a story worth telling. Loud on Paper, Loud on Walls gives them the tools, space, and confidence to express themselves — and to see their work celebrated by the community.”
Tracey agrees:
“There’s nothing better than seeing someone’s face light up when they realise they’ve created something brilliant. It’s not about being ‘good at art’; it’s about discovering what makes you, you, and putting it out there for the world to see.”
Why Consett? Why Now?
Consett is brimming with creative talent — we see it every day in the young people who pop into The GloHouse. But opportunities to explore that talent in an inclusive, supportive environment aren’t always easy to find. Loud on Paper, Loud on Walls is our way of making sure those opportunities exist right here on our doorstep, without barriers of cost, confidence, or circumstance.
