Born 80 years ago in Pont Bungalows—and still living in the same house—Cecil’s a true local gem. After years working at the Consett Steelworks, he gave it all up at 38 to care for his parents full-time
But Cecil’s more than just a carer—he’s a character! Known for rocking wild hair, rainbow Mohicans, and some serious Bowie vibes, he lit up Consett’s pubs and clubs dressed head-to-toe as Ziggy, Aladdin Sane and more.
These days, you’ll find him at the Bread & Butter Café or Maddison’s, full of stories, sparkle, and four-inch nails (yes, really!)
From superhero merchandise to Ancient Egypt treasures—his house is a collector’s paradise.

Cecil isn’t just part of the town—he is part of the town’s history.
