Jimmy’s been driving since he was 12, following in his father’s footsteps in the coal and transport trade. After helping with the family business, he worked at Derwenthaugh Coke Works and later trained with Siddle Cooks Haulage.

Married to Julia in the 70s, with two boys, Jimmy also found a knack for property—renovating homes across Leadgate and even a house and five cottages in France.

Never one to sit still, he’s on the Leadgate Club committee, works with the Leadgate Partnership keeping the cycle route tidy, and is a trustee of Eden Miners Hall.

Jimmy’s the kind of person who keeps Leadgate moving forward. His life is one of hard work, generosity, and love for his community – every community needs people like him.
