In August last year, Kate Lawrence opened Coco Mamma in Prospect Business Park, and has been making a success out of one of the only child friendly hair and beauty salons in the North East with a supervised play area for children.
Kate has worked as a beauty therapist for over 15 years and came up with the idea for Coco Mamma after becoming a mum. With her young baby, she often wasn’t able to make time for herself, and things like hair cuts became bottom of the list of priorities.
After that successful idea, Kate recently launched a workshop that teaches fathers how to style their daughters’ hair.
One dad who attended a recent workshop said “we’ve had some not so great things going on at home recently and my daughter has struggled. When we got home she gave me a massive hug, said thank you and told me she was feeling really happy today, I cant even begin to thank you guys enough for that.”
“I would definitely recommend the daddy haircare workshop, the patience, kindness and warmth shown to us by the Coco Mamma team has meant my daughter has agreed to have her hair cut, which is something she has resisted for the last 4 years”.
Since launching the haircare workshop for fathers, the salon has been inundated with requests from mums asking for a workshop too, and now there’s a waiting list of families wanting one!
The next daddy haircare workshop will be in April.
A mummy haircare workshop has been confirmed for Saturday 14th March.
Within six months of opening, Coco Mamma was nominated for a national award by The Family Network UK, whose black tie award ceremony is due to take place at the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth on Saturday 28th March.
