The Consett Empire will be buzzing with excitement as 400 children from Burnopfield Primary School fill its seats, all thanks to a generous donation from housebuilder Robertson Homes.

Their £500 contribution covered the expenses for coaches, ensuring the entire school can revel in the Christmas pantomime. Scheduled for December 15th, the performance of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” featuring comedian Tommy Cannon, promises to be a delightful experience for the entire school community.

The housebuilder also donated Santa hats for the children to ensure everyone gets in the festive spirit.

“There’s nothing like Panto to get people in the mood for Christmas and I can only imagine what the atmosphere will be like when the theatre is taken over by Burnopfield Primary School.

“Once we heard how hard the children had all been working this term, it was a pleasure to step in with a donation to help them enjoy a GIANT party at the pantomime!”

Dee Colonia, sales director at Robertson Homes

Robertson Homes is currently building a luxury development of 48 new homes at Bowes Manor on Syke Road in Burnopfield, close to the school on Front Street.

The independent housebuilder, regionally headquartered in Gateshead, recently launched a number of new terraced homes for sale at Bowes Manor with prices starting from £259,995 and the site is managed by Chris Thornton, who has been awarded a prestigious NHBC 2023 Seal of Excellence award for the overall quality of the scheme.

“Thank you to Robertson Homes for ensuring all of our students can enjoy the panto together with their friends.

“It can be difficult for schools to fund activities such as this so we are grateful for their generous donation which has not only substantially helped our parents with the cost of the trip, but will also help our students make lasting happy memories.”

Rebecca Brunton, headteacher at Burnopfield Primary School
