Each year in the UK, more than 6000 people take their own lives – each suicide has a devastating and lasting impact on their families, friends and communities.

Faced with a sudden, often unexpected death, those bereaved experience a complex grief which typically includes strong feelings of guilt and questioning – “why?”.

Discomfort, shame and stigma associated with suicide can make it difficult to talk about.

Those bereaved by suicide often feel isolated at a time when they are hurting,

Vicky, Graeme, Korin and Mark, (all bereaved by suicide themselves) set up the Consett support group to support local people bereaved by suicide. The group runs on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7pm until 9pm.

Anyone interested in attending the group must be over the age of 18 years of age and have lost someone to suicide. Group details will be given on request.
