As the month of September begins, school gates swing open once more. To every student, educator, staff member, and parent: here’s wishing you an inspiring and successful academic year.

In this edition, we’ve got a selection of local positive stories to captivate, inspire and educate you about what’s happening in Consett. Among those stories we’ll delve into the Consett Incinerator decision being taken to the High Court on Page 4, a look at Medomsley Cricket Club‘s legacy Page 5. On page 10 we’re celebrating a century of spirit: Consett Rugby Club‘s remarkable centenary. “Consett at Leisure” on Pages 6-7 as local sports are in the spotlight and join Lorraine Weightman‘s poignant September reflection on Page 11.

Did you know? Organic September is the UK’s month-long initiative spotlighting organic products and the dedicated brands, producers, and farmers behind them. Organic September champions the importance of organic products in the UK. Organic-labelled foods adhere to strict European standards, ensuring no artificial additives, minimal natural-ingredient based pesticides (compared to nearly 300 in conventional farming), high animal welfare, no GMOs, and sustainable production. Spot the organic logo on products or even ponder growing your own!

Your voice matters! Share your news, photos, business updates, events, and more with fellow Consett residents in next months edition. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Warm wishes,
