When planning a car journey, a responsible vehicle owner always checks the condition of the vehicle. However, shock absorbers are often forgotten.

Although, they are the key to comfortable travelling and also affect the service life of the vehicle. Proper shock absorbers guarantee less wear and tear on tyres, and brake pads, help keep the suspension in good condition and much more. In addition, touring in the UK includes driving on all sorts of roads, where serviceable shock absorbers are more than necessary.

A Short General Information About Shock Absorbers

The shock absorber is part of the suspension system. The latter is constantly subjected to loads that are taken up by a specific spring called a leaf spring. However, the spring creates some vibrations, which are transmitted to the car body and, as a consequence, sway it. It is the shock absorber that dampens the vibrations of this spring. Thus, the shock absorber is needed to remove body vibrations when you drive on an uneven road with obstacles. In addition, it also removes the effects of shocks from all parts of the car that are constantly in motion (wheels and suspension).

The Peculiarities of Travelling in the UK

To begin with, let’s start with a short statistic: the length of motorways in the country is more than 398 thousand kilometres. From this total amount of motorways – it is 4 thousand kilometres, 50 thousand kilometres of unpaved roads, and the rest are simple roads with a hard surface. It is commonly believed that the roads in Britain are very good, traffic jams are not so much and so on.

However, do not forget that Britain is an island country and many of its attractions are not so easy to access. There you will find everything: places that look typically Italian, pastoral villages in the hills of the Cotswolds and very harsh nature, which in the north of the UK is more Scandinavian. Each part of the country – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland – has its own history and culture, and this is of course reflected in their attractions. That’s why it’s worth being prepared for the fact that if you want to experience the full flavour of the country, you’ll need to turn aside and go where there are no motorways or the usual city traffic, but where there are dirt roads, unbridled nature and incredible experiences.

Thus, serviceable shock absorbers will help you not to feel the “charms” of such roads with all your body and, of course, will give you an additional advantage in the form of easier handling of the car. Besides, your car will (from a purely technical point of view) feel much better, as the shock absorber helps the suspension to work in many ways. That’s why it’s worth checking these parts before travelling.
