You have the chance to help create a major new artwork for a spectacular light festival, The Lumiere Festival on 14 – 17 November.

Lumiere will be returning to Durham City on November 14th to 17th, The Consumerist Christmas Tree will be a focal point of the festival. Festival producers are asking members of the public to donate used carrier bags and to take part in workshops to help build this artistic installation.

Workshops to create this installation will be held from November 4th to 9th from 10am to 8pm at the Prince Bishops shopping Centre, in Durham City Centre. The finished artwork will be displayed during Lumiere and on throughout the festive period.

People can donate bags to collection points at the shopping centre in Durham and also at the Durham County Council customer service Point in Consett.

Lumiere producer Kate Harvey said,

This is a great opportunity for people to really feel part of the festival.

No special skills are needed, we will provide you with all the materials, but we would like people to bring along some empty carrier bags.
