Get Your Bet On: Grand National Tips for 2014

This year sees 44 runners currently planned to take part, these Grand National tips should help you to pick a winner for this year’s big race.

Grand National Tips for 2014
Last years race was won by Auroras Encore ridden by Scottish jockey Ryan Mania. His ride today is Mr Moonshine.

The Grand National is the most valuable jump race in Europe, particularly as it is popular among people that otherwise don’t usually bet or show an interest in horse racing.

The race itself began in 1839 and takes place at Aintree racecourse in Liverpool.

Triolo D’aleneTriolo D’alene (4)

Age: 7 years
Jockey: B J Geraghty
Trainer: N J Henderson
Owner: Mr and Mrs Sandy Orr

Triolo D’alene most recently won well at Newbury in November 2013, with Good going in a Class 1 race. He first started to catch the eye of the punters at Aintree in April 2013 and has continued to improve and won the Hennessy in November. Henderson’s goal since then has been to take this horse to the Grand National 2014. This is one horse to look out for in this year’s race.

Morning Line Odds: 20/1

Mr Moonshine

Mr Moonshine (11)

Age: 10 years
Jockey: Ryan Mania
Trainer: Mrs S J Smith
Owner: Dg Pryde, J Beaumont, dp Van Der Hoeven

Mr Moonshine most recently won at Warwick in February 2014, with Heavy going in a class 2 race. This horse has last years winning team combination of jockey: Ryan Mania, trainer: Mrs S J Smith, Dg Pryde, and owners: J Beaumont, dp Van Der Hoeven. Should be worth a decent Each Way punt.

Morning Line Odds:  33/1

Big Shu

Big Shu (20)

Age: 9 years
Jockey: P Buchanan
Trainer: Peter Maher
Owner: H Duffy/r J Robinson/miss C M Woo

Big Shu most recently won at Punchestown in April 2013, with Heavy going. Cheltenham winning horse Big Shu has been the Ante-post tip for the Grand National for some time this year, and could prove to be the tip of the day at a big price. Big Shu is trained out of Naas, Ireland and must be seriously looked at as a strong contender with plenty of proven ability over the jumps.
Morning Line Odds: 25/1

Hawkes Point

Hawkes Point (27)

Age: 9 years
Jockey: Mr R Mahon
Trainer: P F Nicholls
Owner: Mr C G Roach

Hawkes Point most recently won at Exeter in January 2013, with Heavy going in a Class 3 field.
This is a class horse trained by the great Paul Nichols and ridden by R Mahon. Take the price at the bookies because this horse could easily go off a shorter price than is currently on offer.

Morning Line Odds: 33/1

The Package

The Package (33)

Age: 11 years
Jockey: T Scudamore
Trainer: D Pipe
Owner: The Johnson Family

The Package most recently won at Wincanton in November 2012, with Good-to-Soft going at Class 1. A very nice win in the most recent run, the race in question was a class 1 and should have got this fine animal ready for the big race at Aintree.

Morning Line Odds: 20/1
